Just as Savannah, Georgia’s majestic beauty, with its
historic homes, gardens and moss-filled, Live Oak trees attract
so many – it also inspired William Riley to recreate historic,
hardwood flooring.

What began, as a hobby for Riley
in 1993 eventually became a passion that would ignite one of the
world’s finest, custom wood flooring companies. Riley started Olde
Savannah Flooring by meticulously authenticating techniques and
methods for reproducing wood flooring from historic homes and grand
architectural buildings throughout North America and Europe.
The company has perfected a “25 Step” custom finishing method that is
truly unique to Olde Savannah Flooring. This “25 Step” process
encompasses how many times human hands touch each piece of flooring –
from specially formulated hand-rubbed oils and waxes, to applying
texture and custom colors to achieve the beauty of a rich and lasting
patina. Olde Savannah also incorporates classic techniques that are
used in high-end furniture refinishing and the reproduction of
antiques, to wood flooring.
The main difference between Olde Savannah Flooring and other flooring
companies is the fact that other companies are finishing flooring by
machines and we’re finishing everything by the “25 Step” hand
finishing technique. In addition, Olde Savannah maintains total
control of quality; cost and service from start to finish of every
single piece of wood flooring. Everything, from the milling of the
rough lumber to the custom finishing, is done at the factory, just
outside of Atlanta.
